About Us

Melaythenner Teeackana Warrana (Heart of Country) Aboriginal Corporation (MTWAC) is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation based in Northern Tasmania. Grounded in the enduring knowledge, leadership and connection of our Ancestors, we care for Country, strengthen culture and support the self-determination of Aboriginal people and communities. Through cultural heritage, education, environmental stewardship, advocacy and partnerships, we work alongside Elders, families and young people to ensure that culture, language and connection to Country continue to flourish for generations to come.

Our major annual community event is Mannalargenna Day, celebrating the life of ancestral grandfather Mannalargenna, the revered Bungana (leader) of the clans of the Coastal Plains Nation.
